Head To Head

The Wanderers have won three of the last four meetings between the teams, but Western United prevailed in the most-recent clash, emerging 3-1 winners at CommBank back in March.

Western United Form

It was an extremely disappointing season for Western last term with the club were anchored to the bottom of the ladder for most of the campaign, only avoiding the wooden spoon late on.

Western lost 15 of their 27 games last season, but they avoided defeat in their opening game of the new campaign last week following a 1-1 draw away to Wellington.

John Aloisi's side fought bravely after conceding on the stroke of half-time and their efforts were rewarded when Angus Thurgate scored a brilliant goal from just outside the box in the 76th minute to level the scores.

Western United Team News

Western are dealing with some injury concerns to various players, with Remy Najjarine, Ben Garuccio and Khoder Kaddour all out, while Besian Kutleshi is away on international duty.

James York and Jordan Lauton have been promoted to this weekend's matchday squad.

Western Sydney Wanderers Form

It hasn't been a great run of form for the Wanderers lately, losing three of their last four games of the previous season to miss out on the finals.

They were also bundled out of the Australia Cup early by Adelaide United.

Things haven't got better to start the new A-League season, with the Wanderers suffering a 2-1 defeat against bitter rivals Sydney FC in the derby.

Ayden Hammond managed to level the scores for the Wanderers in the second-half, but they couldn't hold on in front of their home fans.

It was WSW's fourth A-League defeat in their last five outings.

Western Sydney Wanderers Team News

Wanderers manager Alen Stajcic has named an unchanged squad for this encounter, with goalkeeper Lawrence Thomas still unavailable through injury.
