Vic vs Atletico Madrid Predictions

Vic are in fine form but should fall to the greater quality of their La Liga visitors on Thursday.

A high-scoring Atletico win with at least three goals scored is my preferred pick at Estadi Municipal de Futbol de Vic.

  • Vic have seen over 2.5 goals in 3 of their last 4 home matches

  • Atletico Madrid have seen over 2.5 goals in 4 of their last 6 away matches (Copa del Rey)

  • Atletico Madrid won 5 of their last 7 away matches (Copa del Rey)

Head to Head

Vic and Atletico Madrid will meet for the first time on Thursday.

Vic Form

Vic extended their unbeaten start to the season with a thrilling 3-2 win against Palamós on Saturday. Ramón Carrascal's side have won seven and drawn two of nine games played since September.

Strong on their own patch, Vic claimed victories in six of their last eight matches at Estadi Municipal de Futbol.

The sixth-tier hosts earned a Copa del Rey preliminary spot with their third-place finish in Catalonia's Lliga Elit before easily defeating Sporting Mahon (4-0) to advance to the first round.

Vic Team News

Vic boss Carrascal is unlikely to make too many changes from the side that edged past Palamós.

20-year-old striker Ignasi Quer is set to lead a lone furrow in the Vic attack.

Atletico Madrid Form

Atletico make the trip to Catalonia after a disastrous week saw them suffer back-to-back defeats in the Champions League and La Liga. Following a miserable 3-1 home reversal against Lille, Diego Simeone's side slipped to a narrow road defeat at Betis (1-0).

Los Colchoneros have endured a difficult run of results this season, failing to win five of their last six matches across all competitions. Atletico sit 4th in La Liga, already ten points behind leaders Barcelona, and 27th in the revamped Champions League standings.

Copa del Rey winners on 11 previous occasions, though not since 2013, Atletico have won seven of their last 11 domestic cup matches away from home.

Atletico Madrid Team News

Under-pressure boss Simeone is unable to call on a handful of first-team players on Thursday. Robin Le Normand, Cesar Azpilicueta, Pablo Barrios, Marcos Llorente and Clement Lenglet all remain unavailable for the visitors.

Thomas Lemar and Giuliano Simeone are among those tipped to earn a starting berth in a likely rotated Atletico selection.
