Head to Head

Chelsea have an 80-56 advantage against Newcastle in 176 meetings with 40 draws.

Newcastle Form

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle began their EFL Cup campaign with a 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forst and won on penalties. The North East outfit then beat AFC Wimbledon 1-0 at home in the third round.

That was the Magpies' last victory in all competitions. They followed the Wimbledon win with a 0-0 draw at Everton and a 1-0 home loss to Brighton.

The Toon also lost 2-1 at Chelsea on Sunday and were positive with 1.74-1.62 XG. Alexander Isak cancelled out Chelsea’s early opener but Newcastle conceded a second just after half time.

Newcastle Injuries

Forward Anthony Gordon is an injury doubt again here after missing Sunday’s clash.

Defenders Jamaal Lascelles, Kieran Trippier and Sven Botman are ruled out.

Striker Callum Wilson is also unlikely to feature due to a back injury.

Chelsea Form

Chelsea cruised into the EFL Cup round of 16 following a comfortable 5-0 home win over League Two Barrow.

The Blue won their following two matches before drawing 1-1 at home against Nottingham Forest. Another setback came at Liverpool following a 2-1 loss before Chelsea beat Panathinaikos 4-1 in the Conference League.

Enzo Maresca’s side edged Newcastle to a 2-1 home win for consecutive wins in all competitions. Nicolas Jackson scored after 17 minutes and Cole Palmer hit the winner in the second period.

Chelsea Injuries

Young forward Omari Kellyman is Chelsea’s only unavailable player. The 19-year-old is out with a hamstring strain.
