Girona vs Slovan Bratislava Preview

Girona are struggling defensively, keeping just one clean sheet in their last eight matches. Slovan Bratislava found the net in their first UCL road game against Celtic and I like their chances to do it again in Spain.

  • Girona have seen BTTS in 3 of their last 4 matches.

  • Girona have failed to keep a clean sheet in 7 of their last 8 matches.

  • Slovan Bratislava have seen BTTS in 3 of their last 4 matches (Champions League).

  • Slovan Bratislava have seen BTTS in 6 of their last 8 matches.

Head to Head

This is going to be the first head to head match between Girona and Slovan Bratislava.

Girona Form

Girona are nowhere close to the form and results from the previous season when they were one of the title contenders in Spain, currently sitting in 12th place with 12 points from 10 matches.

After starting this month with a 2-1 home victory against Athletic Bilbao, they had a disappointing appearance last weekend and lost to Real Sociedad 1-0.

As for the UEFA Champions League campaign, Los Gironistas were defeated in the first round at PSG 1-0 with Paulo Gazzaniga scoring an own goal in stoppage time, followed by a 3-2 home loss to Feyenoord.

Girona Injuries & Team News

Girona are troubled by a lengthy injury list, Yaser Asprilla, Oriol Romeu, Pau Lopez, Byan Gil and Daley Blind being ruled out.

Slovan Bratislava Form

Slovan Bratislava are playing in the Champions League group stages for the first time in club’s history. They are yet to win the first point, losing the first two matches to Celtic 5-1 and Manchester City 4-0.

Vladimir Weiss’ side also had a couple of slip-ups in the Slovak Super Liga, currently sitting in 2nd place with 25 points from 10 matches, one point behind the leaders Zilina.

After a 1-1 home draw against Trencin earlier this month, they returned to winning ways last weekend with a narrow 1-0 win at Spartak Trnava, Tigran Barseghyan scoring the only goal.

Slovan Bratislava Injuries & Team News

Juraj Kucka is the only injury concern for the Slovak side. He recovered from a knee injury and struggles with fitness.
