Gamba Osaka vs Nagoya Grampus Predictions

A low-scoring contest could be on the cards, with both teams short on wins in the past month.

Under 2.5 goals is my top tip at Panasonic Stadium Suita.

  • Gamba Osaka have seen under 2.5 goals in 3 of their last 4 matches

  • Gamba Osaka have seen under 2.5 goals in 4 of their last 6 home matches

  • Nagoya Grampus have seen under 2.5 goals in their last 4 matches against Gamba Osaka

  • Nagoya Grampus have seen under 2.5 goals in their last 4 matches

Head to Head

Gamba Osaka and Nagoya Grampus have faced each other on 24 occasions over the past decade. Both teams won ten of those fixtures, while four games finished even.

Recent contests have been tight, with only five goals scored across their their four previous encounters.

Gamba Osaka Form

Gamba Osaka return to Panasonic Stadium Suita after being held to yet another draw against Kawasaki Frontale in last Friday's J1 League clash. Daniel Algaba's men have now seen seven of their last ten league matches finish deadlocked.

The Nerazzurri have endured a fairly miserable run of results at Panasonic Stadium Suita. Gamba failed to win five successive home fixtures (D3, L2) before a remarkable 2-1 victory against Consadole Sapporo three weeks ago. Algaba's side scored twice in injury time to claim a first home win since the start of July.

A lack of attacking firepower has proven an issue for the Osaka-based side. Gamba scored just five goals in their last six home fixtures.

Gamba Osaka Team News

Head coach Algaba is unable to call on five first-team players on Wednesday. Genta Miura, Masaaki Higashiguchi, Issam Jebali, Neta Lavi and Daichi Hayashi are all tipped to remain absent for the hosts.

Nagoya Grampus Form

Nagoya make the trip to Osaka following back-to-back home defeats over the past ten days. After a 2-1 J-League Cup elimination against Yokohama F. Marinos, Kenta Hasegawa's side slipped to a disappointing 2-0 J1 League setback against Consadole Sapporo.

Grampus have proven a frustratingly inconsistent side, particularly in recent weeks. Hasegawa's men won five and lost five of ten J1 League games played since the start of August.

On the road, the men from Nagoya have struggled, with defeat suffered in seven of nine away J1 League games over the past five months.

Nagoya Grampus Team News

Head coach Hasegawa has no fresh injury concerns ahead of Wednesday's trip to Osaka.

Masahito Ono and José Carabalí remain long-term injury absentees for the away side.
