Belgium vs France Preview

Belgium barely snatched a point against Italy despite having one-man advantage on Thursday. France are on a two-game winning streak and I will back them to add one more to the tally against inconsistent hosts.

  • Belgium have lost 2 of their last 4 matches.

  • Belgium have lost their last 4 matches against France.

  • France have won their last 2 matches.

Head to Head

France have a 12-5 advantage against Belgium with 6 draws in 23 matches.

They last met in September, the game being won by France 2-0.

Belgium Form

Domenico Tedesco’s side had a successful start to the new edition of UEFA Nations League, beating Israel 3-1 with Kevin De Bruyne scoring a brace, Youri Tielemans also on target.

They were outplayed and defeated in the second round by France 2-0, ending the match with 0.82-2.70 expected goals, 55% possession and 9-25 shots.

Things were looking bad for the Red Devils on Thursday, being behind two goals against Italy after 24 minutes, but recovered with Leandro Trossard’s and Maxim De Cuyper’s goals to win a point (2-2).

France Form

France had a horrible start to the new edition of UEFA Nations League, suffering a 3-1 home defeat against Italy despite gaining a lead with Bradley Barcola scoring in the first minute.

Les Bleus recovered and won their second round match three days later against Belgium, Randal Kolo Muani breaking the deadlock in 29th minute, Ousmane Dembele doubling the lead in second half.

Didier Deschamps’ side looked fantastic on Thursday in the third round, claiming a 4-1 victory against Israel with Eduardo Camavinga, Christopher Nkunku, Matteo Guendouzi and Barcola finding the net.

They are currently 2nd on the table with six points, one point behind the leaders Italy.
