Bayer Leverkusen vs Elversberg Preview

Elversberg average more than three goals per game and beat Hamburg 4-2 last weekend. Bayer Leverkusen shouldn’t have trouble beating the second-tier side, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the visitors score a goal or two.

  • Bayer Leverkusen have won 3 of their last 4 home matches.

  • Bayer Leverkusen have seen over 3.5 goals in 8 of their last 13 matches.

  • Elversberg have seen over 3.5 goals in 8 of their last 11 matches.

Head to Head

This is going to be the second head to head meeting between these two teams.

Elversberg won 4-3 in July 2022 and eliminated Bayer Leverkusen from the German Cup.

Bayer Leverkusen Form

Bayer Leverkusen are nowhere close to last season’s, claiming 15 points in their eight Bundesliga appearances and currently sit in 3rd place, five points behind the leading duo Bayern Munich and Leipzig.

Xabi Alonso’s side came very close to beating Werder Bremen last weekend, holding a 2-1 lead until stoppage time, with Victor Boniface scoring and an own goal from Felix Agu. However, Romano Schmid rescued a point for Werder with a 92nd-minute goal.

This was Bayer Leverkusen’s third draw in their last four Bundesliga matches (1-1 against Bayern Munich, 2-2 against Holstein Kiel), with their only win in this run coming against Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1.

The German champions are looking good in the Champions League, collecting seven points in three games. They won against Feyenoord 4-0 and AC Milan 1-0, while last week’s trip to France ended in a 1-1 draw against Brest.

Elversberg Form

Elversberg have been in great form recently, collecting ten points from last four 2. Bundesliga encounters and getting up to 7th position on the table.

Last weekend they defeated favored Hamburg 4-2 at home, Fisnik Asllani scoring a brace, Luca Schnellbacher and Robin Fellhauer also on target.

Earlier this month, Elversberg also beat Kaiserslautern 1-0 and Hertha Berlin 4-1, while the clash against Preussen Munster ended in a 1-1 draw.

Winger Manuel Feil is serving a one-match suspension.

Manager Horst Steffen also can’t count on injured Patryk Dragon, Frederik Jakel and Daniel Pantschenko.
