Azerbaijan vs Slovakia Predictions

Slovakia should have enough quality to see off the Azerbaijani challenge on Monday.

An away win is my top tip, while I also fancy both teams to net in Baku.

  • Azerbaijan have seen BTTS in 5 of their last 6 matches

  • Azerbaijan have seen BTTS in their last 3 home matches

  • Azerbaijan lost 4 of their last 5 matches

  • Slovakia have seen BTTS in 6 of their last 9 away matches

  • Slovakia won 8 of their last 12 away matches

Head to Head

Azerbaijan will meet Slovakia for the 12th time on Monday evening. Slovakia have largely dominated past encounters, claiming nine wins while losing just twice.

Slovakia eased to a 2-0 win in their most recent confrontation in Bratislava last month.

Azerbaijan Form

Azerbaijan return to Baku after a disappointing 3-1 defeat against Estonia in their Nations League C, Group 1 fixture on Friday. Fernando Santos's men have lost all three group phase fixtures played, including defeats against Sweden (3-1), and Slovakia (2-0) last month.

The Milli Komanda are a tougher proposition in home fixtures, with only three defeats recorded from their last 11 games in Azerbaijan (W6, D2, L3).

Santos's side can usually be relied upon to score in Baku with at least one goal scored in nine of their last 11 games at the Tofiq Bəhramov adına Respublika stadionu.

Head coach Santos has a 24-man squad available for Monday's Nations League contest.

The hosts are expected to make one or two changes to the side that slipped to defeat in Estonia. Emin Mahmudov is among those in contention for a recall to the first XI.

Slovakia Form

Slovakia come into Monday's contest unbeaten in League C, Group 1 after an excellent comeback against Sweden on Friday. Trailing by two inside the first 32 minutes, David Strelec's double-strike fought back to claim a well-earned 2-2 draw.

The Slovenskí Sokoli sit at the top of the section with seven points collected from three games played, including a 2-0 win against Azerbaijan last month.

Francesco Calzona's side have a strong road record, with victories picked up in nine of their last 14 matches played outside of Slovakia.
